The science of service
Ludowici Plastics, the result of a merger between Ludowici NZ Ltd and Ceelon Plastics Ltd, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ludowici Ltd, a publicly listed Australian company.
The parent company was formed in 1858 as a specialist tanner and manufacturer of leather drive belts. These products remained the focus until the late 1920's when Ludowici moved into the new fields of rubber, synthetic rubber and plastics. Being at the forefront of these developments, Ludowici pioneered many manufacturing techniques and marketed various innovative products.
The New Zealand operation was formed in 1975 as a joint venture with the MSI group, the company being known as MSI Ludowici. Five years later the company expanded its own business as a new company, J C Ludowici New Zealand Limited, with three product groups: polyurethane elastomers, rubber products and hydraulic seals.
Expansion to become a New Zealand group followed the purchase of Addington Engineering in 1989 and Ceelon Plastics in 1996. Both acquisitions allowed Ludowici to expand its business activities over a wider product range. Then in late 1999 Ludowici NZ and Ceelon Plastics merged to become Ludowici Plastics.
The company today
Ludowici Plastics is a manufacturer, importer and distributor of a range of non-metallic solutions to industry, utilising plastic, rubber and polyurethane as the predominant materials. The company has manufacturing centres in Auckland and Christchurch, with sales offices in Auckland, Brisbane, Wellington and Christchurch. Its product range includes the following:
